A MOBILE PLATFORM FOR STORAGE AND WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT

Project description: A mobile platform integrated with a robot arm that uses computer vision and localization to navigate and move objects around a particular area​

Project ideas: Automation in storage and warehouse management is becoming a trend in many companies and organisations. Therefore, the need for a reliable and robust robotic solution has become the main motivation for my team to develop the STOBOT. It utilises computer vision to locate the position of a particular object within a maze (representation of a warehouse), estimates the object coordinates and controls the Dobot arm to pick it up. Furthermore, it can also do self-navigation and path planning using the a localisation algorithm called Monte Carlo. Below is a short video demonstrates how the robot operates.

Major Components:

  • Dobot Magician Arm + Pump Kit

  • Raspberry Pi 3 B+

  • Pi Camera

  • Arduino Mega 2560

  • High torque DC Motors with Encoders
